Frequently Asked Questions
How can I increase my overall grade in Biology?
How do I retake a Biology Test?
Can I revise and resubmit my lab book for a higher score?
No. Lab books and assignment grades will not be adjusted after the original due date.
When are lab books due?
Lab books are due right before you take each test. Example: Lab Book 1 is due the day you take Bio Test 1.
How can I earn a Level 4 Proficiency on my lab book?
Initiate an investigation on a subject that pertains to the lab book standard and objective (Level 4 Investigation: Example 1, Example 2). What are you curious about? What did we cover in class that you want to know more about, or become an "expert" in? What questions about the current content do you have? Using credible sources, investigate and hand-write one (small handwriting) or two (larger handwriting) pages regarding your investigation and findings in your lab book. This must be included with each lab book submission and will not be accepted after the due date for that lab book.
What's the difference between a Level 4 Investigation and a Level 4 Objective?
When are assignments due?
All assignments become part of your lab book. They will be turned in when your lab book is submitted.
What can I bring to a biology test?
You may have a blank sheet of paper and the data analysis for the test. Data is available prior to each test (see the Tests/Quizzes page). You can write your explanations and observations directly on the data handout, or on a separate piece of paper. You may not include "cheat" notes - biology exams are not open-book, open-notes tests.
- Review what you missed on the Bio test, study, ask for clarification, revise your lab book to a Level 3 Proficiency (it will not be re-graded), and schedule a test retake.
- On your next Lab Book submission, complete the Level 4 Advanced Proficiency Investigation.
- Complete the Level 4 - Advanced objective(s) associated with each quarter/standard (see the Honors Bio/Level 4 page). Each standard has one or more advanced objectives that students can complete for an additional assessment grade. Your work must be accurate, detailed, and complete to earn a level 4. You must fulfill all parts of the objective at an advanced level.
